Park will gather both the national and U23 team in Hanoi for training on March 13. During these sessions, Park will let the assistants instruct both teams while he oversees overall management.
The national team will play the last two World Cup qualifiers with Oman on March 24 and Japan on the 29th, while the U23 team competes in Dubai Cup from March 20 to 30.
Therefore, Park will hand the U23 team to his assistant, Gong Oh-kyun. Gong was introduced to Vietnam Football Federation and will sign a contract in March.
According to an agreement in Park’s contract extension last year, he will coach the U23 team until SEA Games 31 ends in May. After that, Park will focus solely on the national team while Gong officially takes over the U23 team.
Dubai Cup this year will feature 10 U23 teams: China, Croatia, Iraq, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the UAE, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
In the first round, Vietnam will face Iraq on March 23. They will play China three days later in round two.
