"I have competed in the Olympics, World Cup, won the Asian Cup and retired to do good things for the community. What's wrong with me going on a livestream to raise money for charity?" the teary Zhao said as she responded to the anti-fans.

Zhao affirmed that she will continue to do what she thinks is right.

"I want to visit primary schools in remote areas, build stadiums and become a coach to teach children how to play football. I will never give up my desire," said the former Chinese goalkeeper.

Zhao started her career at Shanghai RCB in 2005 and retired there in 2023. In May 2018, she became the team's highest-paid player with a monthly salary of US$1,500.
