Two Vietnamese beef dishes listed among world's best

TasteAtlas, a website known for its comprehensive information on various dishes and restaurants, has created a list of the top 50 rated meat dishes globally.

The rankings are based on the number of votes from diners and culinary experts, with a total of 60,432 ratings recorded until Nov. 15.

Bo nhung dam, beef in vinegar hotpot, is a Vietnamese hotpot dish that includes a broth flavored with vinegar, coconut milk or coconut water, lemongrass, and onions.

Accompaniments comprise thinly sliced raw beef, fresh vegetables, and herbs. Despite its name suggesting an exclusive use of beef, it can include other proteins like squid or shrimp.

The dish involves rice paper sheets for wrapping and is usually served with fish sauce mixed with chili, garlic, sugar, and lime juice, or a dipping sauce made from fermented anchovies called mam nem.

Bo kho, beef stew, includes various ingredients like diced beef, carrots, lemongrass, spices, and is simmered in a spicy broth.

The stew is commonly consumed with garnishes like green onions, coriander, and onions.

The Vietnamese beef stew can be enjoyed in different ways, whether alone, with a side of baguette, or over noodles.

Colombia's lechona, a whole roasted pig stuffed with onions, peas, and spices, claimed the top spot as the world's best-rated meat dish. China's Dongpo pork and Argentina's Asado followed, offering savory slow-cooked pork and a rich assortment of beef cuts.
