South Korean star Kim Hyun Joong's thumbs-up for Vietnamese food

Kim Hyun Joong, a member of the popular South Korean boy band SS501, recently visited Ho Chi Minh City and wrote on social media about the foods he tried.

Late last week he uploaded photos on his Instagram account, which has with 2.4 million followers, showing he visited Pho Hoa on Pasteur Street in District 3 where a southern-style bowl of pho costs US$4.

He also visited Nem Restaurant on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in District 1 to try spring roll.

He wrote: "It was a pleasant trip to Vietnam. It was my first overseas trip alone, but I had a happy trip with the help of my acquaintances.

"Be sure to visit these restaurants, you won't regret it."

He also walked around on the Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, one of the busiest hangouts in the city during weekends.

Kim has become well-known in Vietnam after playing roles in the Korean dramas "Boys Over Flowers" and "Playful Kiss."

He is also considered one of South Korea's biggest hallyu (K-pop and South Korean pop culture) stars of the early 2010s.

A number of Korean stars have recently been visiting Vietnam.
