The index closed 1.12 points higher after gaining 8.59 points on Tuesday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) fell by 8.19% to VND12.70 trillion ($541.29 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 18 tickers gain.
BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings rose 1.9% to a three-week high.
VHM of real estate giant Vinhomes went up 1.8%, and HDB of HDBank 1.5%.
Other gainers included VPB of private lender VPBank, 1.4%, and POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation, 1.1%.
Eleven blue chips fell, with VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail losing 2.5%.
VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank fell 2.3%, and KDH of real estate firm Khang Dien House dropped 1.9%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND175.23 billion, mainly selling NVL of real estate developer Novaland Group and KBC of industrial real estate developer Kinh Bac City.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was down 0.66% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was up by 0.05%.
