Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index ended its gaining streak with a 0.13% drop to 1,273.66 points Thursday.

The index closed 1.62 points lower after gaining 23.21 points in four previous sessions.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange fell by 13.14% to VND15.35 trillion ($655.99 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 15 tickers drop.

NVL of property developer Novaland lost 1.5%, and CTG of lender VietinBank dropped 1.2%.

POW of Petrovietnam Power ended 1.1% lower, while BID of lender BIDV fell 1%.

Eleven blue chips bucked the trend, with SAB of brewer Sabeco hitting an 18-month high after gaining 2.7%.

SSI of brokerage SSI Securities surged 2.2%, and GAS of Petrovietnam Gas closed 1.2 % higher.

Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND118.34 billion, focusing on VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk, SSI and HDB of HDBank.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, fell 0.46% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market lost 0.24%.
