The number of workers abroad increased by 7-10% annually, and an average worker makes VND200 million ($8,541) a year, according to a report by the Central Economic Committee released Thursday as cited by Thanh Nien newspaper.
There are now 451 organizations and companies providing foreign labor services, double that of 2012, it said.
There are 25 foreign markets that Vietnamese workers are sent to, compared to nine in 2013, it added.
Deputy head of the committee Do Ngoc An said Vietnam’s policy to send workers abroad has helped create jobs and contributed to increasing the country’s foreign currency resource.
