The HCMC Department of Market Surveillance carried out a surprise investigation on Friday, finding a large number luxury brand-name products that lacked documents to prove their origins. The authorities said that the missing documentation indicated that the products may be counterfeit goods.
A department official said that the typical consumer lacks an awareness of the differences between genuine and counterfeit products, making it very difficult to tell the two apart from each other.
The goods, which sell for between VND300,000 ($12.60) to VND850,000 per item, have been confiscated for further investigation.
The shop’s Facebook page has over 215,000 followers.
