The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) will allow trading of odd lots (one to 99 shares) starting next Monday after a 21-month suspension.

But odd lots have to be sold separately and not clubbed with trading of a standard lot (100 shares), meaning an investor who wants to sell 138 shares needs to place two separate orders for 100 shares and 38 shares.

Besides, odd lots cannot be traded on the day of listing of a stock.

All brokerages have confirmed that they are ready to starting trading odd lots, HoSE said.

The bourse shut down this feature in January 2021 when its then outdated system became overloaded.

A new system provided by tech giant FPT in July last year resolved the issues.
