A dance performed by singer Amee on her latest music video “Ung Qua Chung,” which mimics the movement of cats, went viral with millions of views and hundred of thousands of covers.

Amee released the dance video in early March and immediately created a trend on TikTok. Many people danced covers to the song, and some even did it with their cats, garnering millions of views.

The 22-year-old singer continued to release a compilation video of the dance covers, which has attracted nearly a million views and made it to the top 10 on YouTube Vietnam Trending. On music platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, the song also placed second in the country.

The dance went viral because it’s lovely and easy to recreate, which is suitable for young audiences. Choreographer RedCat, who created the dance for the song, said his idea came from the lyrics.

"When I listened to the demo, I imagined a scene of a small house with a garden full of sunlight, flowers and a cat just lying there comfortably. Then I came up with the idea to imitate the movement of cats," he said.

RedCat showed the moves to Amee, who was excited and quickly got into practice.

"The moves are not too difficult, but the important thing is you have to match them with the melodies and show the correct facial expression," she said.

Choreographer Kim Anh said the song fits the sweet and lovely style of Amee. Nguyen Phuong Nhi, second runner-up in 2022 Miss World Vietnam, said she covered the dance of the song because it’s cute.

Amee’s real name is Tran Huyen My. She started her singing career at 15. Her breakthrough came in 2020 when she released her debut album "dreAMEE", which contains many hit songs. In the same year, Amee became the youngest Vietnamese artist to be honored at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards as the Best New Asian Artist.
