The Vietnamese artist revealed that Millennium Films, the movie’s production company, invited him to collaborate in 2022.
"I hope the feature of my song in the movie will contribute to spreading Vietnamese language and Vietnamese rap music worldwide," he said.
He added that the movie will feature his song in its original format without editing.
A spokesperson from CGV, the movie’s distributor in Vietnam, said the song will be featured in the version that is scheduled to be shown in 37 other countries and regions alongside Vietnam.
Born Le Nguyen Trung Dan in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, Binz, 35, started his career as an underground rapper in 2008. He spent a period in the U.S. before returning to Vietnam in 2018 and establishing his name in the domestic market.
He started gaining public recognition after participating in the game show "Rap Viet" in 2020 as one of the judges.
Written by Binz and released in July 2020, "Bigcityboi" has topped the YouTube Trending section in various countries including Canada, Australia, the U.S., and Vietnam.
Containing elements of trap music in its melody, the song’s music video has garnered over 97 million views on YouTube as of September 2023.
Set to release in Vietnam on September 22, "Expend4bles" is the fourth installment in "The Expendables" film series, which revolves around the story of a group of elite mercenaries. Stars in the franchise have included Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, and Dolph Lundgren.
