Dao, 62, plays Trinh, the warm and caring mother of the lead female character Amy, whose happiness lies in her husband and daughter’s happiness.

Trinh first appears in the eighth episode of the series, which shows her cooking for her small family, asking her daughter to have dinner with her and her husband, and then mediating a conflict between father-and-daughter when things seem about to ruptures.

Her appearance ends as she gives motherly advice to Amy while they do the dishes together.

Critics have regarded "Beef" as the best original Netflix series since "Squid Game," reported The Independent.

The 10-episodes tell the story of discord between two Los Angelenos: Amy, the owner of a plant shop, and Danny, a struggling owner of a construction business.

"Beef" was produced by the highly successful independent production house A24, whose major hits include seven-Academy winner "Everything Everywhere All at Once," as well as the two-time 2023 Academy award winner "The Whale."
