Japan's digital transformation is entering a new phase as many enterprises begin replacing legacy systems built decades ago.

Systems that were once considered reliable are increasingly facing limitations in scalability, security, and integration with modern digital services.

As Japanese companies look for partners to modernize these systems while maintaining operational stability, several Vietnamese IT vendors have begun gaining attention. Among them is Kaopiz, a technology company focusing on legacy system modernization for the Japanese market.

Many enterprise systems in Japan were developed using monolithic architectures and on-premise infrastructure. While stable, these environments can result in high maintenance costs, limited flexibility, and difficulties integrating with cloud platforms or newer applications.

At the same time, labor shortages and rising digital competition are pushing Japanese companies to accelerate modernization efforts while minimizing disruption to mission-critical operations.

This environment has created opportunities for external technology partners with expertise in system transformation.

Kaopiz, a Vietnam-based technology company, has gradually expanded its operations in Japan by focusing on legacy system modernization projects.

Rather than positioning itself as a general outsourcing provider, the company says it focuses on helping enterprises transform existing systems while preserving business logic and maintaining operational continuity.

The company operates development centers in Vietnam alongside on-site teams in Japan, a model intended to facilitate coordination with Japanese clients while maintaining cost efficiency.

Kaopiz engineers have worked on enterprise systems across sectors including finance, logistics, manufacturing, and services.

Modernizing legacy systems often involves more than rewriting outdated code. For many Japanese enterprises, it requires restructuring complex systems while ensuring data integrity and minimizing operational risks.

Common modernization activities include re-architecting monolithic systems into modular structures, refactoring legacy codebases, upgrading user interfaces, and migrating systems toward hybrid or cloud-ready environments.

Kaopiz says it applies an assessment-first approach, analyzing system dependencies, business rules, and performance requirements before proposing technical changes. Development is typically carried out using agile methods combined with structured quality control and documentation processes.

Alongside legacy modernization, the company also provides cloud consulting and implementation services, primarily based on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

These services include cloud readiness assessments, migration planning, infrastructure setup, and DevOps support.

Cloud platforms can allow enterprises to scale resources more flexibly, improve system resilience, and support faster development cycles. When combined with system modernization, cloud adoption can also help organizations integrate new digital services more efficiently.

For Japanese enterprises, vendor selection often depends not only on technical capabilities but also on communication and project management practices.

Kaopiz says it emphasizes documentation, long-term planning, and structured delivery processes to align with Japanese business expectations.

Vietnam's engineering workforce has also enabled companies such as Kaopiz to offer competitive pricing while maintaining technical expertise.

As Japan accelerates its digital transformation, demand for system modernization partners is expected to increase. Vietnamese technology companies are increasingly participating in such projects as the country's engineering capabilities expand.

By combining legacy modernization expertise with cloud services, Kaopiz aims to support Japanese enterprises in transitioning their existing systems while preparing for future digital development.
