Vietnam's OTT app VieON wins Asian technology excellence award

VieON received the Vietnam Technology Excellence Award for digital services in media and entertainment, for the second time in a row.

"VieON's consecutive win is an indication of the company's technological prowess and readiness to dominate the OTT market in Vietnam and around the region," a VieON representative said.

The Asian Technology Excellence Award 2022 is hosted by Asian Business Review, honoring outstanding companies that are riding the digital disruption wave and leading digital transformations in 60 countries around the region.

Launched on June 15, 2020, and powered by DatVietVAC Group Holdings, VieON takes full advantage of its over 20 years heritage in media and entertainment production. Its unrivaled library of content currently serves more than 30 million users.

VieON’s unique selling point lies in a highly personalized experience in TV series, gameshows, movies, documentaries, live sports, cartoons, 200 local and international TV channels, and more.

VieON has also established strong partnerships with global powerhouses like Samsung.

In order to deliver an outstanding user experience, VieON invests heavily in content acquisition, content production, and product and tech development, continuously improving features for the app including the content recommendation engine powered by big data and AI.

In 2022, VieON introduced several new functions and features like facial recognition, TVOD (transactional video on demand), and has plans to expand to at least one international market.

The app also acquired major international titles including Eve, The Law Cafe, Street Dance of China 5, If You Wish Upon Me, Poong - the Joseon Psychiatrist.

VieON also co-produces wave-making original content, VieON Originals, including TV shows and drama series.

In order to cater to the growing demographic of sports enthusiasts, VieON introduced two new subscription packages, sport and family. With the addition of 23 new channels from VTVCab, viewers can access an unlimited world of sports from football to tennis, golf, F1, to martial arts and wrestling.
