A panel that is both environmentally friendly and user-safe, while boasting superior thermal insulation, has been successfully developed and manufactured by Tonmatpan.

Tonmatpan Factory under Tonmat Group has announced the successful production of polyisocyanurate (PIR) panels using hydrofluoroolefin (HFO), marking a significant milestone for Vietnam's construction materials industry. The panel combines three essentials: environmental friendliness, production and user safety, and high thermal performance.

A key feature of HFO is its low global warming potential (GWP) and zero ozone-depletion potential. It also enhances safety in production and application: it is non-flammable, non-toxic, and poses no health risks to workers or end-users.

Test results show conventional PIR panels have a thermal conductivity (lambda) of 0.020–0.022 W/m·K. In contrast, Tonmatpan's HFO PIR panel achieves 0.01837 W/m·K, among the lowest reported in Vietnam. Lower conductivity means better insulation, helping reduce energy loss and operating costs for buildings.

Beyond insulation, HFO PIR panels offer high mechanical strength, fire and moisture resistance, and long service life in harsh conditions. With a smooth, bright finish and strong visual appeal, they suit both industrial applications and modern civil and commercial projects.

Globally, countries are pursuing net-zero emissions, with green building materials playing a pivotal role. Many developed markets enforce stringent energy and environmental standards, demanding materials that are economical, safe, and eco-friendly.

In Vietnam, this demand is rising. Rapid urbanization and growth in industrial parks, logistics centers, commercial hubs, and high-end residences are intensifying the need for efficient, sustainable insulation. Sandwich panels are increasingly becoming a strategic building material.

Sandwich panels can reduce electricity consumption in operation by 20%–40% thanks to very low heat transfer coefficients (U-values). Their use indirectly lowers CO2 emissions by cutting electricity needs for cooling and preservation systems. They also enable faster assembly and installation, about 40%–60% quicker than traditional materials, reducing construction time, labor, and long-term operating costs.

In this context, Tonmatpan's HFO-based PIR panels are positioned as a solution to energy and environmental challenges in modern construction. With standout advantages, they are suited to cold storage and food-preservation warehouses (stable temperatures, lower electricity use); processing and manufacturing plants (safe operation, reduced energy costs); factories and logistics centers (large scale, high durability and efficiency); and civil/commercial buildings (supermarkets, offices, green projects prioritizing energy savings and aesthetics).

Tran Trung Kien, deputy director of Tonmatpan's International Trade Department, said the company has mastered green, safe, and environmentally friendly inputs such as HFO, enabling the successful production of PIR panels "with the best thermal insulation index in Vietnam today." He added: "This is an important foundation for us to become the top choice for FDI projects in Vietnam and also opens up great opportunities to conquer markets with strict standards for green materials, such as the EU, Japan, and the U.S."

The successful production of HFO-based PIR panels expands Tonmatpan's portfolio of high-quality products and underscores the company's, and Tonmat Group's, long-term commitment to sustainable development. It is not only a technological step forward but also part of the group's broader vision to contribute to Vietnam's goals in emissions reduction, energy savings, and green economic growth.

Ha Van Lung, head of production at Tonmatpan, emphasized that this is a strategic move toward creating modern, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly buildings. "This success affirms our research and technological innovation capabilities while also contributing to enhancing Vietnam's thermal insulation materials industry."

Looking ahead, Tonmatpan will continue investing in modern technology, improving product quality, advancing green production, and reducing emissions. Beyond meeting domestic demand, the company aims to become a pioneering brand bringing "Made in Vietnam" green insulation products to international markets, targeting regions with strict standards such as the EU, Japan, and the U.S.

"This will both affirm the position of Vietnamese enterprises on the global construction materials map and contribute to spreading the value of sustainable development for the community and society," a company representative said.
