Conglomerate Vingroup is part of a consortium, the only bidder, seeking to build a VND33 trillion (US$1.3 billion) smart city in Hanoi’s outlying Dong Anh District.

The Vingroup–Thai Son–Long Hai has registered to develop the smart city, which has yet been named.

Thai Son is 99.8% owned by Vingroup’s property development arm Vinhomes.

The development will span 268 hectares and is expected to house a population of 38,500.

Its construction has a deadline of 2031-end.

Dong Anh District in the north of Hanoi spans 185 square kilometers and has a population of 437,000. Several billion-dollar residential projects are planned to be developed here.

Another major project Vingroup is eyeing in Dong Anh is the National Exhibition Fair and Vinhomes Co Loa Urban Area, for which it is seeking development licenses.
