VN-Index soars to 2-month high

VN-Index soars to 2-month high

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index rose 1.09% on Wednesday to 1,274.04 points, its highest since Oct. 21.

The index closed 13.68 points higher after gaining 2.4 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose by 3.34% to VND16.512 trillion (US$649.3 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw all tickers gained.

CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank saw the biggest growth of 5.5%, followed by STB of lender Sacombank with a 4.5% increase and SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation, up 2.3%.

MBB of MBBank rose 2.3%, TPB of TPBank went up 2.2%, and HDB of HDBank closed 2.1% higher.

Foreign investors were net buyer to the tune of VND254 billion, mainly buying SSI and HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.79%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.61%.
