VN-Index rises slightly

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index rose 0.02% to 1,279.79 points Wednesday.

The index closed 0.29 points higher after gaining 4.73 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 15% to VND25.970 trillion (US$1.02 billion).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 14 tickers gained.

FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation rose 2.7%, followed by VPB of private lender VPBank with a 2.2% growth and MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World, up 1.8%.

Fourteen blue chips fell. SAB of brewer Sabeco slid 2.5%, VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail went down 2.1%, and VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup closed 1.4% lower.

Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND1.51 trillion, mainly selling VPB of VPBank and FPT of FPT Corporation.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.35%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.04%.
