VN-Index reaches highest level in over 2 years

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index rose 0.60% to 1,304.56 points Monday, its highest since June 2022.

The index closed 7.81 points higher after gaining 3.77 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 32% to VND21.097 trillion (US$828.3 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 21 tickers gained.

HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group saw the biggest jump of 4.7%, followed by VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk with a 3.9% rise and SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation, up 2.0%.

Six blue clips fell. FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation went down 1.1%, BCM of Becamex Investment and Industrial Development slipped 0.5% and PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex closed 0.46% lower.

Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND259 billion, mainly selling FPT and MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.39%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.42%.
