The index closed 15.23 points higher after gaining 9.24 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 7% to VND13.98 trillion ($549 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 26 tickers gained.
HDB of HDBank led with a 4.3% rise, followed by BID of state-owned lender BIDV, up 4.2%.
BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings gained 2.6% and VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank closed 2.4% higher.
Four blue chips fell, including VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail with a 0.7% drop.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND49 billion, mainly selling VHM of property giant Vinhomes and TCB of the largest private lender Techcombank.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.94%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.28%.
