VN-Index posts marginal gain

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index rose 0.04% to 1,317.83 points Wednesday.

The index closed 0.50 points higher after gaining 10.47 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 28% to VND19.296 trillion (US$752.4 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 10 tickers gained.

SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation was up 1.5%, FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation rose 1.24%, and VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup closed 1.17% higher.

Seventeen blue chips fell. SSB of SeABank went down 1.8%, BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings slid by 1.14%, and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank saw a 1.13% drop.

Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND708 billion, mainly selling ACB of Asia Commercial Bank and MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.73%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.19%.
