The index closed 1.87 points higher after gaining 2.26 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 3% to VND21.937 trillion (US$861.8 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 9 tickers gained.
VHM of property giant Vinhomes rose 3.2%, VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank closed 3.0% higher, and LPB of Fortune Vietnam Bank was up 1.9%.
Twenty blue chips dropped. GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group fell 1.8%, VIB of Vietnam International Commercial Bank slid 1.4%, and HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group went down 1.2%.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND836 billion, mainly selling FPT of tech giant FPT Corporation and GMD of logistics company Gemadept Corp.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.54%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.25%.
