The index closed 4.23 points higher after gaining 7.83 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 10% to VND22.775 trillion (US$892.2 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 16 tickers gained.
BCM of Becamex Investment and Industrial Development led with a 6.9% jump, followed by VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup with a 4.4% increase and VCB of state-owned lender Vietcombank, up 1.8%.
Ten blue chips fell. LPB of Fortune Vietnam Bank down 1.7%, FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation down 1.5%, SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation down 0.9%.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND577 billion, mainly selling FPT and SSI.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.46%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.07%.
