The index closed 54.12 points higher after gaining 74.04 points in the previous session. It has risen by 13.8% from the lowest point it hit after U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff announcement.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange surged sixfold to VND38.161 trillion (US$1.48 billion).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 28 tickers gained.
Five of them hit their ceiling prices: GAS of state-owned Petrovietnam Gas, MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World, STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank, VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup, and HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group.
Two blue chips fell, namely SSB of SeABank with a 3.1% drop and BCM of Becamex Investment and Industrial Development, down 1.6%.
Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND969 billion, mainly buying FPT of tech giant FPT Corporation and HPG.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 2.41%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.37%.
