Gasoline prices fell while diesel prices went up Thursday afternoon, following changes in global rates.

The popular fuel E10 RON95 dropped 2.01% to VND20,000 (US$0.76) per liter.

Biofuel E5 RON92 added 2.69% to VND19,190.

Diesel rose 2.73% to VND21,740. Price of the fuel, however, has plunged by half from this year’s peak in April.

Globally fuel prices in recent days have been affected by development in the U.S.-Iran conflict, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.

RON95 fell 2.6% in the last seven days to $97.5 per barrel, while diesel prices increased 4.2% to $116.5 per barrel. Mazut prices also declined 1% to $428.3 per ton.

Vietnam authorities will continue to scrap fuel-related taxes (excluding special consumption tax) through the end of September.

Within one month since E10 gasoline was widely introduced, Vietnam consumed around 980 million liters of biofuel gasoline. Of this amount, E10 gasoline accounted for 924 million liters, or 96%.
