The U.S. dollar strengthened against the Vietnamese dong and remained stable globally on Monday morning.

Vietcombank sold the dollar at VND25,400, up 0.24% from the weekend.

The greenback rose by 0.55% to VND25,500 on the black market.

The State Bank of Vietnam raised its reference rate by 0.06% to VND24,228.

Since the beginning of the year, the dollar has increased by 4.01% against the dong.

Globally, the dollar hovered not too far from a high of more than two months against a basket of currencies on Monday, with the dollar index last at 103.46, Reuters reported.

Sterling dipped 0.02% to $1.3045, while the euro fell 0.01% to $1.0865.

The one-month non-deliverable forward indicated that the rupee will open barely changed from the last close of 84.0650 and not too far away from the 84.0775 lifetime low.

The yen was down 0.1% at 149.32 per dollar, staying on the stronger side of 150 per dollar, having breached that level briefly last week for the first time since early August.
