Vietcombank sold the greenback 0.12% higher at VND25,730.
The State Bank of Vietnam hiked its reference rate by 0.04% to VND24,643.
On the black market the dollar was sold 0.02% higher at VND25,715.
Globally the yen firmed and the U.S. dollar held steady on Thursday as investors pondered what U.S. President Donald Trump's latest tariff agenda would mean for the global economy and how it could affect the interest rate outlook for major central banks, Reuters reported.
Currency movement was modest in cautious Asian trading save for the yen, which rose to an over two-month top of 150.62 a dollar, helped by flight to safety over worries about the impact of Trump's tariffs as well as bets of more Bank of Japan hikes this year.
The euro was flat at $1.0422, having fallen in the previous session as top policymakers at the European Central Bank took opposing views on inflation risk and on how much the bank is holding back economic growth.
