The U.S. dollar rose slightly against the Vietnamese dong Tuesday afternoon.

Vietcombank sold the dollar at VND25,482, up 0.01% from Monday.

The State Bank of Vietnam’s reference rate was stable at VND24,245.

The greenback went up 0.27% to VND25,820 on the black market.

It increased against the dong by 4.35% since the beginning of the year.

Globally the dollar rose up slightly on Tuesday as traders awaited U.S. inflation data, while the yen hovered near a two-week low, stoking intervention worries, Reuters reported.

The dollar index, which measures the U.S. currency against six rivals, was last 0.17% higher at 105.37. The index has slipped almost 1% in May.
