Vietcombank sold the greenback at VND26,381, down 0.02% from Wednesday.
On the black market the dollar gained 0.18% to VND27,800.
Globally the yen dipped to a record low versus the euro and wallowed near a nine-month trough against the dollar on Thursday after Japan's new prime minister said she wanted the central bank to go slow on interest rate hikes, Reuters reported.
The yen dipped to an unprecedented 179.50 per euro early on the day before bouncing back to trade at 179.25.
The Aussie gained 0.3% to $0.6563, and earlier touched $0.6565, the strongest level since Oct. 30.
Sterling eased 0.1% to $1.3123 ahead of the release of gross domestic product figures later in the day.
