The supply of shophouses at seaside resorts has surged by 149 percent since 2015, and the number will keep rising at major tourism destinations.

According to real estate firm Savills, surveys of investors and guests at a recent webinar found that the favorite destinations are Phan Thiet in the central province of Binh Thuan, Ho Tram in the southern province of Ba Ria Vung Tau and Phu Quoc Island.

According to DKRA Vietnam, supply of seaside shophouses in the central and southern regions continued to increase in the second quarter of this year, but demand dropped as the fourth wave of Covid-19 began in April.

Some 1,500-2,000 seaside townhouses and shophouses are expected to be launched in the second half, but would not not recover until the pandemic is controlled and vaccination is accelerated, experts said.
