GameHub to close registration in 2 days

The GameHub search and investment program, part of the Vietnam GameVerse 2024 event, has announced an extension of its registration deadline until March 15.

Launched in December 2023, the program has gathered over 50 registrations for its qualifying phase. To facilitate participation and give game projects additional time for preparation, the organizers have decided to extend the registration period.

Eligible products and projects will have their information showcased on the event website. However, registrations received after March 15 will not be considered for the pitching phase.

During the qualifying phase, a technical council will evaluate and select games to proceed to the pitching round. Participants, whether individuals or organizations, will present their ideas to the council and receive feedback. Each team will have 10 to 15 minutes for their presentation, followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer session. The selected games will undergo further modifications and refinements for the final pitching stage.

In the final round, teams will present their projects to an investment council. Projects demonstrating high potential to succeed in the market will have the opportunity to secure significant investments from enterprises and partnering units. This culminating event will be held as part of the Vietnam GameVerse 2024 series in Ho Chi Minh City in May.

GameHub is a first-of-its-kind program that seeks to identify and invest in promising game projects in Vietnam. The program is open to individuals and game development studios looking for investment opportunities and partnerships with businesses. GameHub accepts applications for games of all genres. Each entity can submit multiple products, including both released games and games under development.

According to Data.ai, Vietnam is currently ranked among the top 5 countries in the world for mobile game production, based on downloads in the first half of 2023. Experts believe that the Vietnamese game industry has immense potential. The industry is led by a growing community of young, passionate, and talented developers. In schools, students are exposed to programming at an early age, while some universities have already incorporated game development content into their curriculum.

With a sizable and diverse player base and a burgeoning number of game studios, competition within the industry is fierce. The organizers of GameHub aim to capitalize on this momentum by continually attracting top-tier, innovative products with significant market potential.

Following over a month of accepting nominations, the technical council has reported a strong turnout of high-quality projects spanning various genres. Many entries showcase creative concepts, compelling narratives, and engaging gameplay.

GameHub is one of many activities at the Vietnam GameVerse 2024 International Game Exhibition. This year's series of activities includes the Vietnam Game Awards, which honor outstanding game products, publishers, and gamers; the Cosplay Contest and the Cosplay Parade. Other activities include the Game Talk seminar series, the Game Arena, the Game Expo, and the B2B area, a forum on trends in the Vietnamese game industry.

In its inaugural year last year, Vietnam GameVerse attracted over 20,000 participants. Management agencies, experts, and industry titans like VNG, Garena, and VTC convened to deliberate on the current state and future prospects of Vietnamese gaming.

The event provided a platform for both casual and professional gamers to engage in discussions and competitions through the Game Arena. Additionally, the Cosplay Contest captivated audiences with meticulously crafted performances that went beyond just costumes, incorporating elements of storytelling, sound design, and lighting effects.
