Ministers’ room rate on trips may rise to $112 under new proposal

The Ministry of Finance has proposed a payment cap of VND3 million (US$112) per room per night for ministers on business trips, up 20% from the current level.

The cap for deputy ministers would go up to VND1.5 million, up 25%.

The revised caps would apply to all destinations.

Civil servants’ business allowance per day would be raised by 22% to VND550,000.

The proposal is being reviewed by relevant government bodies.
