Apple removed 5,064 apps in Vietnam last year, mostly because the U.S. company suspected they were used as tools for fraud.

This placed Vietnam in fifth place globally for number of apps deleted, behind China, the U.S., India, and the U.K., according to the 2023 App Store Transparency Report.

But the 3,500 apps removed for "fraud" placed it second behind only China.

The apps removed were in the games, entertainment, education, and business categories.

One was removed for violating Vietnam’s cybersecurity law at the behest of the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Vietnamese developers submitted 800 appeals for their apps to be reinstated, and Apple accepted five of them.

This was the second year Apple published a transparency report.

There are 1.87 million apps on the App Store.
