Approximately 750,000 children and youths under 20 in Singapore will each receive SGD500 (about US$390) in government support this month to help ease their families' financial burden of raising and educating children.

About 450,000 children aged 12 and under will each receive the Child LifeSG credit, according to The Straits Times.

Approximately 300,000 students aged between 13 and 20 will each get a one-time SGD500 top-up to their Edusave accounts or Post-Secondary Education accounts.

These initiatives are part of the household support measures outlined in Budget 2025 in February to assist families with child-raising expenses, according to a joint statement from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social and Family Development on July 3.

Children born between 2013 and 2024 are slated to receive the Child LifeSG credits during the week of July 7, while those born in 2025 will get theirs in April 2026.

The credits can be used for everyday expenses, including groceries, pharmacy purchases, utilities, or transportation.

They will be deposited into the Child Development Account trustee’s digital wallet via the LifeSG app. No application is needed, and recipients will be notified by SMS once the credits are available, according to Channel News Asia.

The same notification will be sent to parents of eligible students for the top-ups.

These top-ups supplement the government’s annual Edusave contribution and are intended to help cover education-related costs for families with older children.
