Some 72% of jobseekers sought salaries of VND5-10 million (US$200-400) a month, according to a survey of nearly 12,000 job applications in Hanoi in October.

Over 15% wanted VND10-20 million, found the survey conducted by the Hanoi Employment Service Center.

Out of the 12,000 job openings posted by businesses during the month, 57% offered salaries of VND5-10 million and 15% offered VND10-20 million.

The center said the labor market is usually stable towards the end of the year with more jobs being available and low turnover.

Businesses in retail, services, logistics, construction, and manufacturing increase their payroll at the time to cope with the peak holiday season demand, while workers want to stay at their job to ensure they get the year-end bonus, it said.

More job postings are likely to appear in the remainder of the year since businesses have been optimistic about their operations in the coming months, it predicted.

The retail and manufacturing sectors are expected to boost hiring while some like tech and finance and banking are set to reduce hiring.

There was a 10% decrease in the number of people seeking unemployment benefits in the first 10 months of the year. Only 66,500 applied during the period compared to 73,500 in the same period last year.
