HCMC job seekers targeting $780 monthly salary halve in 2024

The rate of job applicants looking for a monthly salary of VND20 million (US$784) or more in HCMC plunged by half in 2024 to 19.9%, a survey has found.

The most preferred salary range was VND10-15 million (41.2% of respondents), according to the survey by the HCMC Center of Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information.

Some 26.3% wanted VND15-20 million, and 12.7% looked for jobs paying VND10 million or less.

Most candidates applied for management, trade and business, administration, translation, human resources, accounting, and marketing jobs.

Three-fourths (76%) had a bachelor’s degree, and the majority (54.7%) had more than five years of experience.

Almost half of businesses (49.5%) looked for employees in the VND5-10 million salary range, a rate that almost doubled from last year.

It was followed by the VND5 million or lower range, which accounted for nearly 25% of recruitment demand.

Only 5.7% of companies looked for employees in the VND20 million or higher range.
