The websites of companies associated with VNDirect were also under cyberattack Monday after the brokerage recorded suspicious activities by an “international organization” on Sunday.

People Trust Insurance, a company of VNDirect owns a 20% stake, said on its website that it had been under attack starting at 10 a.m. Sunday and managed to resolve issues as of Monday morning.

Its website, however, was still not accessible as of 2:07 p.m. Monday.

The disclosure was similar to that of VNDirect, which said that it was attacked by an "international organization".

Websites of investment firm IPA, a shareholder of VNDirect, and stock investment fund IPAAM were also inaccessible.

VNDirect chairwoman Pham Minh Huong’s husband Vu Hien is the leader of both IPA and IPAAM.

Investors have not been able to access their trading accounts on VNDirect since trading began Monday.

Account managers have advised investors to put a hold on transferring money into their trading accounts until further notice.

The Hanoi Stock Exchange has shut down online trading of VNDirect accounts and will resume once the company informs that all issues are resolved.

VNDirect, established in 2006, ranked third last year in the number of accounts, accounting for 7.01% of the total and only behind SSI Securities Corp and VPS Securities.
