Thue Quist Thomasen, CEO of Decision Lab, said that Coc Coc is quickly closing the gap with global competitors.

The web browser, launched in 2013, has grown in popularity among Vietnamese users by incorporating unconventional tools such as ads blocking or video downloading.

In 2021 Google limited sign-ins and synchronization of its user accounts on Coc Coc, forcing its developer to use a different method for them to sign in.

The average number of Coc Coc users in the third quarter grew 1% year-on-year to 30.7 million, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

The Decision Lab survey also found that Zalo was the most popular messaging app in Vietnam with a penetration rate of 85%, followed by Messenger.
