Cook arrived at the lake in the downtown area at around 11 a.m. He waved and smiled at passerby.
"Hello Vietnam. I am so excited to be here today. I can’t wait to meet all the developers and all the creators in the community," he told reporters.
Dressed in a dark polo shirt, Cook, accompanied by seven members of his team, enjoyed a leisurely 15-minute walk around the lake.
"Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi is as beautiful as it is iconic! It was amazing to spend time with Duy and see his creative process using Cinematic mode on iPhone 15 Pro," he wrote on social media X, referring to Ngo Duc Duy, a popular tech influencer in Vietnam.
Apple said in a release Monday that it seeks to strengthen its commitment to Vietnam with Cook’s visit.
Cook said upon arrival he was excited to meet with content creators, students and customers in Vietnam and learn about the way they use Apple’s products.
His company promised to increase spending for suppliers in Vietnam and to develop a clean water project for local schools.
Cook, 64, became CEO in 2011, and doubled the company’s revenues and profits by 2020. Under him, new products like Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro, a virtual reality headset, were developed.
In 2023 it became the first company in the world to achieve market cap of $3 trillion.
