The team secured their third ASEAN Cup victory, defeating Thailand 3-2 in the second leg and 5-3 on aggregate in the 2024 final Sunday night.
Lender LPBank announced a reward of VND3 billion for the team following the second leg after previously awarding them VND2 billion for their first leg win. The Hanoi People's Committee also gifted the team VND2 billion.
State-owned lender Agribank rewarded the team with VND2 billion and offered additional rewards worth US$10,000 to the top scorer, who was naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son with seven goals across four matches.
The team received VND2 billion from lender SHB, which sponsored flights taking 600 football fans to Bangkok for the final. They were also awarded $300,000 by ASEAN Cup organizers.
The second leg of the ASEAN Cup final lasted over 110 minutes at Thailand's Rajamangala Stadium on Sunday night. Vietnam emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, with two goals each scored by Vietnam’s Pham Tuan Hai and Nguyen Hai Long and the third being an own goal by Thailand’s Pansa Hemviboon.
As a result, Vietnam won the two-legged final with an aggregate score of 5-3, claiming its third ASEAN Cup title. Its previous triumphs were in 2008 and 2018 when the tournament was called the AFF Cup.
