HCMC’s coastal Can Gio District is planning to set up a night seafood market to attract tourists.

It has sought guidance from city authorities for establishing it.

According to the Can Gio People’s Committee, the district receives over 10.3 million visitors between 2015 and 2020, with the number growing at 31.4 percent a year on average, but only 3-4 percent of them stay overnight because there are few attractions.

With HCMC reopening tourism on Oct. 1, many travel companies have launched tours to Can Gio, including by river from Bach Dang Wharf in District 1.

This month city tourism authorities are focusing on developing tours to historical sites and eco-tourist destinations.

In November, HCMC will allow visitors from cities and provinces that have basically controlled the Covid-19 outbreak.
