Some iPhone 15 Pro Max versions sold out within a few minutes after the Apple Store started taking orders, causing their delivery to be delayed until November.

In some markets such as the U.S., Singapore and Thailand, sales of the iPhone 15 started on Sept. 22.

In markets in the second list, including Vietnam, Apple Store Online and Apple authorized resellers started taking pre-orders iPhone 15 at midnight on Sept. 22.

Buyers expected to lay their hands on the device on Sept. 29, but only a small number will since the number of bookings has been enormous.

Buyers of iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have to wait until Oct. 3 and of iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max until Oct. 18-25.

There was a similar situation at retail outlets. The The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World) website displayed the message "pre-orders sold out" by 4 a.m., and offered a discount for those who order later.

But many buyers will have to wait until November for the device.

The electronics retailer said some 20,000 customers had made deposits within two hours just like last year when the 256 GB and 512 GB Pro Max models in all colors sold out.

"Within just five minutes after opening for orders, many versions were sold out," Nguyen Lac Huy, the manager of a CellphoneS chain store, said.

The most popular this time have been the Pro Max 256 GB version, especially titanium. The pink 15 Plus version also sold out early. It is expected that in two or three weeks more devices will be shipped to stores.

Chain store ShopDunk said it received 5,000 orders in three hours.

Di Dong Viet said it only accepted limited orders based on its quota allocated by Apple.

This year people can buy directly from Apple through its online store.

To compete, most resellers offer discounts, trade-in programs and preferential payment schemes, and so their prices are often VND3-4 million lower than the official prices.

The iPhone 15 is made of titanium and not aluminum and steel like previous models. It also has a USB-C connection instead of a traditional Lightning port.
