Apple’s authorized resellers in Vietnam have lowered the price of the iPhone 16 by 4-6% four weeks after its launch.

The 128 GB version is now sold at VND22 million, down from VND23 million on Sep. 27 when the this year’s models were launched.

The 512 GB version is down 6% to under VND30 million.

But there are no price changes to the rest of the lineup comprising the Plus, Pro and Pro Max, the latter two being favorites in Vietnam.

Data from resellers show that the two have accounted for 70-90% of sales.

The discount on the iPhone 16 is thus meant to increase demand for it, Nguyen Lac Huy, a media representative at Apple authorized reseller CellphoneS, said.

Last year too the standard version, the iPhone 15, saw prices cut four weeks after launch, and its sales increased by 25%, he added.

Retail chain Di Dong Viet has seen a slight increase in demand for the iPhone 16 after announcing the discounts. It now accounts for 14% of its sales, while the biggest seller, with a 70% share, remains the Pro Max.

In the global market Apple has reportedly asked its suppliers to reduce production of the iPhone 16 by 13 million units, mostly in the standard and plus versions, amid low demand for them.
