Huawei’s new tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT, has garnered over two million online reservations within just two days, even before its official launch.

As the first tri-fold smartphone to be commercialized in the world, Mate XT was open for reservation starting Saturday, and by the end of Sunday 2.12 million people have registered to buy it, according to Huawei’s website.

The smartphone, which features a leather-covered design, will be available with either 512 gigabytes or 1 terabyte of storage.

Huawei, based in China, plans to officially launch the Mate XT on Tuesday, just hours after Apple is set to unveil its latest iPhone 16.

According to the smartphone news platform PhoneArena, the Mate XT is expected to be priced around $4,000.

The Mate XT is poised to set a new trend in tri-fold smartphones, with other Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Tecno also developing tri-fold models slated for release next year.
