Former deputy general director of Hoa Binh Construction Group (HBC) Le Van Nam was appointed as the company’s general director on Friday.

Nam, 47, is a civil engineering graduate from HCMC’s University of Technology. He started working for HBC in 2001 as a supervising engineer and was then promoted to many high-ranking positions.

In 2014 he was assigned as the deputy general director in charge of the northern region. In mid-2019, he resigned from this position.

HBC’s general director position has been vacant for nearly a year since the company dismissed Le Viet Hieu, son of chairman of the board of directors Le Viet Hai.

The HCMC Stock Exchange has announced that HBC stock will be restricted from trading (only in the afternoon session) beginning May 23 because the company is 45 days late in submitting its audited financial statement.

This caused HBC shares to drop steeply, closing Friday at VND7,850 ($0.33), down nearly 20% compared to the beginning of the week.
