National utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN)’s post-tax profit last year surged 49 percent from 2019 to VND14.48 trillion ($631.47 million).

Revenues rose nearly 3 percent to VND409.8 trillion, as most EVN subsidiaries posted positive figures and exceeded targets, according to the company’s most recent report.

Total generation capacity by the end of last year hit 69,300 megawatts, up 26 percent from 2019, with 25 percent drawn from renewable energy sources.

Energy production rose nearly 3 percent to 247.08 billion kilowatt-hours.

EVN spent around VND12.3 trillion on electricity bill discounts last year to support households and businesses amid Covid-19 impacts.
