Ride-hailing company Be Group plans to enter 20 new localities this year, with a focus on tourism destinations, taking the number of its markets to 27.

They include Hue, Can Tho and Phu Quoc and Con Dao islands.

The group’s beTaxi service is a partnership with local taxi companies that helps people find taxis using the Be app.

It had over 4,000 taxis last year in its seven markets, which include Hanoi, Da Nang City and Ho Chi Minh City.

It is the only Vietnamese company among the top three ride-hailing firms, with Singapore’s Grab at the top and Indonesia’s Gojek in third place.

With Gojek not yet offering taxis, Grab and Be are the main competitors in this segment. Grab is in 45 localities.

Vietnam’s transport and food Internet market grew by 50 percent to $1.6 billion last year, according to a study by Google, Temasek and Bain & Company.
