The Asian Development Bank has appointed Shantanu Chakraborty its new Vietnam director.

The Indian, who has been with the bank for 18 years, replaces Andrew Jeffries who leaves the position after nearly three years.

Chakraborty will represent ADB in policy dialogues and fostering relationships with the government and other relevant organizations.

He will oversee until 2026 implementation of the country partnership strategy for Vietnam, which focuses on the transition to a green economy, exploiting the potential of the private sector, and promoting social justice.

Chakraborty holds a master's degree in management from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, another in business administration from New York University's Stern School of Business and an engineering degree from the Birla Institute of Science and Technology in Pilani, India.

He has nearly 28 years of professional experience in South, Central and West Asia and in the U.S.
