Tuan Hung has been invited to perform at the Super Bowl Pregame Warm-up in Las Vegas next year, the first Vietnamese singer ever to do so in history.

Hung confirmed his invitation to the Super Bowl pre-show with a Facebook post on Sunday.

He told the press that he got the invitation from the National Football League (NFL) two weeks ago, but had to wait until he signed the contract to make the announcement.

"Super Bowl is the NFL final, featuring top athletes in the world. Sometimes I still think that I’m dreaming and don’t understand why I was invited," Hung told Thanh Nien Newspaper. "I’m really honored to be the first Asian and Vietnamese artist that got invited to perform there."

Whether it’s the pre-game or main show, the audience is always looking forward to Super Bowl performances.

Hung said he felt some pressure and would have to prepare thoroughly with the support of many experts to help him create a performance that fits the event as a whole.

"When I made this announcement, many people said I probably would have to sing in English. But I think the producers of the show wouldn’t want us to, since it would be no different from inviting an American singer," he said. "I will try to bring Vietnamese music to a wider audience, and even though they don’t understand the lyrics, I hope to create an impressive performance with the melody and the story of Vietnam."

The Super Bowl Pregame Warm-up is set to take place on Feb 9, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada with about 10,000 people in the audience. This is a warmup event for Super Bowl LVIII – the American football championship game for the 2023 NFL season on Feb 11.

For many years, the Super Bowl has been one of the most-viewed sporting events in the world and an important part of American culture. The Super Bowl warmup and halftime shows often garner great traction and go on trending quickly.
