K-pop fans had a night to remember as renowned band WINNER and other South Korean artists performed Thursday at the 2022 Korea Brand and Entertainment Expo (KBEE) held in Hanoi.

The event had garnered much attention from fans since it was announced, with the lineup including WINNER, singer and actress Kim Se-jeong and newbie group Blank2y.

Hundreds of K-pop fans arrived hours before the event began at 5:30 p.m.

Blank2y opened the show with great energy though one of their members was indisposed. The band said they were moved by the support of Vietnamese fans although they were newbies.

Later, Kim Se-jeong greeted the fans and performed some of her hits, including the soundtrack to the drama series Business Proposal that she starred in. The series was trending in many countries including Vietnam earlier this year. Kim said on the stage that she was really excited since this was her first time in Vietnam and that her favorite dishes were Vietnamese banh mi and pho.

The most anticipated performance of the night, however, was WINNER. Two years after their last time in Vietnam, the K-pop boy band got fans on their feet with an explosive performance. The band was initially going to perform four songs, but the energy and passion of their supporters enthused them to return to the stage with three more, including "Really Really", one of their biggest hits.

Band member Lee Seung Hoon, who has expressed his love for Vietnam on many occasions, had fans go crazy when he said: "I’m the son-in-law of Vietnam" in Vietnamese.

WINNER, formed in 2013, achieved immediate success on their debut. They became the fastest K-pop act to top the Billboard World Album Chart with their debut album 2014 S/S. Their rapid success in South Korea earned them numerous music awards. They have performed in Vietnam twice before, in 2018 and 2020.
